At Hillsgrove we believe PE and Sport is key in the development of our children. It improves their physical fitness, develops their
discipline, communication skills, concentration and the ability to work as a team and independently.
These valuable life skills are transferable to the classroom and can support progress in their academic attainment and allowing the child to be
confident in their learning, building resilience, grit and determination - central to 'Character Education'.
We are using a high quality physical education curriculum based on skills, with the aim of inspiring all our pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. This is achieved through providing our pupils with the opportunity to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Through opportunities to compete in sport and other activities pupils will build character and help to embed core values such as fairness and respect.
Impact of Government Sport Premium Funding:
At Hillsgrove we are working with Lewisham Thunder, Bexley Cricket Club, Jets Netball Club and a range of outside Gymnastics, Trampolining, Dance and wider sports coaches as well as Hurstmere Secondary School for the development of PE and Sport. We will work with staff and coaches to ensure every child receives a high quality PE education and provide increased opportunities for pupils to develop their sport specific skills. There will also be opportunities for pupils to take part in intra (in school), inter (between schools) and borough wide competitions. We will also have a range of clubs, which will provide greater opportunities for all our young people to access physical activity.
