Chair of Governors
Hillsgrove Primary School
I was appointed as a Local Authority Governor late 2013 after expressing my interest to be involved in education in Welling and have been involved with Hillsgrove and it's journey since.
My working background has been quite varied until I fell into Human Resources in 2009 working in a number of industries including the Arts, Retail and most recently in Education.
I have been involved with Hillsgrove School since being appointed a local authority governor in 2006. In my professional life I was a Research Fellow at University College London working in medical research, specifically with viruses.
Since retiring I now work as a volunteer adviser with Citizens Advice. I am also involved with the Boys Brigade both as a trustee and an officer and also run the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme for the BB Companies within Bexley and Greenwich.
MRS URSULA AYLIFFE
I was appointed as a Governor in 2017 after expressing my interest to be part of the governing body of the school.
My working background is in Public Finances as part of a multinational accountancy company.
I was appointed as a Governor in 2017. My children are in various year groups in the school and I also volunteer at Hillsgrove in Year 1.
I was appointed as a Governor in 2013. I am also the SENCO and Inclusion Leader at Hillsgrove. I was reelected in November 2017 as Staff Governor.
I was appointed as a Governor in 2017. My children are in various year groups in the school and I have previously been a Parent Governor at a Greenwich School.
I joined the Local Governing Body at Hillsgrove in October 2017 after serving for 19 years as a Governor at Old Bexley CoE Primary School, including 12 years as Chair. I am a Chartered Engineer and for half my career worked for BT in a variety of senior engineering management roles. In 1995 I joined Kemnal Technology College as a Vice Principal with responsibility for all non-teaching activity and in 2010 became Chief Operating Officer and Company Secretary for the Kemnal Academies Trust.
I believe that schools working collaboratively perform better together than they can individually. In 2015 I helped to form the Amadeus Primary Academies Trust where I am presently Chair of the Board of Trustees. Hillsgrove is a very different school from Old Bexley and it is a privilege for me to be using my skills and experience in a school that is clearly making continuous improvement.
I have had a connection with Hillsgrove for many years and was invited to become a Governor. My daughter attended the school and now this connection continues with my granddaughter.
In my professional life I worked at P&O Containers for 26 years and at that time I was Social Secretary for the PTA. During this time I was responsible for organising, dances, quiz nights, boot sales, summer and Christmas fayres to raise money for the school.
I am now retired but have been working for the Metropolitan Police on a voluntary basis for the last 10 years and also the Greenwich & Bexley Hospice.
I support the Governing body of Hillsgrove School to ensure that agreed values and targets of the school are attained.
